Using Microsoft Teams after Phone System Activation

Using Microsoft Teams after Phone System Activation

Below will be a short walk-through on how to use your Microsoft Teams client for dialling internal and external numbers.

Using Microsoft Teams with Telephony Enabled

Once you login you will be brought to a screen like this. What you will notice shortly is that that icon will have additional functionality than it previously did.

This icon is where your telephone functionality is located. Once we have clicked on it, we will now be provided a similar option as before, but now we will get a dial pad.

When you open your dial pad, you will see your phone number and you can now enter in extension numbers or external phone numbers to dial from your Teams client.

(Note: If your teams client does not look like this, then please log out and log back in again. If that does not fix the issue, then please contact your IT support)

To dial out, you can use the number pad on your keyboard or press the digits with your mouse. You dial just like you do with your existing phone system.

Internal Dial example

Just like Skype and MS Teams, your dialling experience will be the same for calling internal and external numbers. You have the same features, but now you can dial outside of teams.

Have a play around and try dialling your mobile or your colleague. Music on hold will work as well as other features.

Voicemail

Go to the icon in the top right hand corner and go down to Settings.

Go down on the left to Calls and you will see a button to configure your voicemail.

Queues

If you are in a queue, then you will have the ability to op-in and opt-out of receiving queue calls.
